Useful Information For Parents

All the Information to support a young person in the group

Online Scout Manager (OSM)

In order to maximize our Leaders’ time for delivering Scouting activities, we utilize an online platform known as OSM to streamline administrative tasks. OSM effectively handles various aspects such as attendance tracking, badge records management, and maintaining personal information.

To ensure we have the most accurate and current details for your children, we kindly request that you periodically log into OSM and update personal as well as contact information for both yourself and your young ones. This helps us maintain efficient communication and support within our Scouting community.

There are a number of help videos for OSM, but if you are still having problems, speak to one of your Section Leaders and they will be able to help.

Get Involved

Our team comprises entirely of volunteers; no one receives payment, and this is what distinguishes Scouting as exceptional. It’s the dedication of passionate, enthusiastic adults that shapes the next generation while honing their own skills.

There are numerous avenues for involvement, ranging from occasional assistance as part of a parent rota to assuming a permanent leadership position. Our volunteering opportunities are as diverse as the individuals who embrace them.

We offer comprehensive training for your role, along with a supportive community of leaders and friends to assist you throughout your tenure with the group. Your commitment fuels the endeavor.

Uncertain if volunteering suits you? Consider lending a hand for a couple of weeks and deciding later. You’ll never know until you give it a try.

Uniform and Badges

Our uniforms are designed to be comfy and practical, as well as showing that we all belong to the same group. Each section has a top half uniform (shirt/blouse or sweatshirt) which is combined with a group scarf. Our scarf is red & yellow with our duck badge sewn on the back.

For section specific information about uniform as well as a list of suppliers, use the buttons below.

Badges proudly display the accomplishments of our youth, skill full affixed to our uniforms for all to admire. Whether it’s in animal care or writing, each badge represents a set of tasks completed by our young individuals across various sessions or camps.

For detailed information regarding badges and their placement on uniforms, please utilise the buttons provided below for section-specific guidance.

Cost Of Scouting

Throughout the year, we implement a fee system, referred to as “Subs,” to cover various expenses for both the group and its individual sections. These expenses encompass insurance, capitation fees (payments to the district and county), hall maintenance, supplies for meetings, administrative costs, and digital tools. Additionally, there may be additional charges for special activities, camps, and events.

Our aim is to maintain these costs at a minimum to ensure inclusivity for all participants. However, if you encounter financial difficulties, please refer to our financial support section for assistance.

Each section collects the fees using the same methods. It’s important to note that all Subs are non-refundable.

In Squirrels, Subs are charged at £30 per term, paid at the start of each term (After Summer, After Christmas, and After Easter).

We prefer to collect fees through OSM but bank transfer is available if necessary.
